Business Conduct Guidelines

Kyowa Pharmaceutical, in working towards creating a society in which, regardless of nation, human rights, laws, standards of conduct, international rules and the spirit thereof are continually adhered to, will place utmost importance on compliance as one of the core management principles of the company and conduct its business based on high ethical standards, in accordance with the following conduct guidelines:

Ensure stable procurement of generic pharmaceutical products which can contribute to a sustainable healthcare insurance system, thereby contributing to an efficient distribution of medical cost and the health and welfare of the people.

Ensure clinical tests are conducted under the cooperation of medical institutions with utmost regard for the rights and safety of the patients and with scientific rigor. Ensure animal testing for pre-clinical studies are conducted with utmost regard for the welfare of the animal subjects.

Provide timely and accurate information in regards to the quality, safety, and efficacy of the generic pharmaceutical products to ensure proper usage thereof.

Undertake proper sales transactions and distribution as required for generic pharmaceuticals through fair, transparent and free competition. Furthermore, maintain healthy and normal relationships with the medical professionals, politicians and administrators.

Ensure communication is made extensively to the society and corporate information is disclosed in a proactive and fair manner. Additionally, ensure all possible measures are implemented to protect personal and customer information with utmost regard for the confidentiality thereof.

Take independent and proactive actions in regards to measures required to address environmental issues, recognizing such measures as tasks universal to all human beings and requisites critical to ensure continuation of all corporate activities.

Respect the diversity and individual personality of the employees, seek to enhance their moral values and improve their capabilities and secure safety and joy within the working environment, thereby realizing comfort and affluence therein.

Proactively carry out social contribution activities as good corporate citizens.

Stand up firmly against antisocial forces and organizations which cause threat to order and safety within the community.

Contribute to the development of local societies in the course of globalization of business operations under respect towards the local cultures and customs in addition to local laws. Furthermore, cooperate with international efforts to promote use of generic pharmaceuticals and contribute to the development thereof.

Ensure the top executives of the company recognize their individual responsibilities in realizing the spirit of the guidelines herein and pledge to endure thorough awareness of the employees through exemplary actions. Furthermore, ensure they have a good understanding of internal and external observations, pledge to maintain practical policies and seek to ensure that corporate ethics rules are strictly adhered to.

In the event of violation of the guidelines herein, ensure that the top management of the company seeks to resolve the issue, investigates the root cause and implements recurrence prevention measures in person. Furthermore, ensure that the top management of the company performs the required duties to disclose the relevant information to the public in a prompt and accurate manner and fulfills his/her accountability, clarifies the relevant authority and responsibilities and take strict remedial actions against those held responsible including his/herself.
